The Institute of Economics receives funding from the European Union for its academic partnerships with Ukraine and South Africa. The Erasmus+ programme supports the partnerships with Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (both Ukraine) and University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of Limpopo, and Durban University of Technology (all three South Africa) financially.

The Erasmus+ project pays scholarships for incoming exchange students from Ukraine and South Africa. The programme also offers three scholarships for outgoing exchange students from FAU to Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Furthermore, the project includes exchange of teaching staff. Four guest professors / lecturers from the three South African partner universities will come to Erlangen to teach courses for the MA Development Economics and International Studies. Two lecturers from the Institute of Economics will go to South Africa to teach at our partner universities. We expect that three guest professors / lecturers will come from Ukraine to Erlangen. Two FAU members of our teaching staff will go to teach at our Ukrainian partner universities.
