Information for incoming students

The Friedrich-Alexander-University and the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology offer a wide range of assistance for incoming students, to support you during the start of your studies and later on.

Orientation events for international students

The Central Office for International Affairs offers repeatedly a two-hour orientation event for incoming students. There, you will learn which forms and documents you need if you want to go to the different administrations. You do not need to register for the events. However, it would be helpful for the organization if you e-mail to Peter Forna (peter.forna@fau.de) in advance.

Dates of the event: https://www.fau.eu/international/international-applicants/orientation-courses-for-international-students/ below “Orientation events offered by the Central Office for International affairs”.

Support by the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology

The Faculty also offers orientation courses for incoming students. Here, you particularly get information how the programs for Bachelor, teaching degree and Master are organized. In addition, there is a “buddy program”, where students from higher semesters support you, as well as multiple events for international students. Further resources

The Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology runs an orientation week for students starting their studies, this year from October 10 to October 14. You may find information about this program here; unfortunately, the page is only available in German: https://www.phil.fau.de/studium/studienbeginn/gos/kurse-und-aktuelles/

If you want to deepen your German language skills, the FAU Language Center offers various classes in German as foreign language. You might find information by following this link: http://sz.fau.de/abteilungen/daf/english. Of course, you can visit other language classes as well.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Student’s advisory of our Institute and, if you are enrolled for the Master program, Christoph Weber!
